today I fell in love again -no, slash that, too-.
Today, I fell in love.
With the tree right next to the gate at the park.
Yes, it's -no, slash- HE'S a tree,
but sometimes, I can hear something beating in there.
No, not like squirrels banging nuts against the bark,
or woodpeckers pecking away at branches.
Thu-thump. Thu-thump. That's what it sounds like.
Like a heart, y'know.
And sometimes, when I press my forehead on it's -slash- his trunk,
it's warm.
Of course, I couldn't be so sure
but sometimes when I lay beside it,
I think his leaves look much greener.
-No, slash- Not greener.
More... alive.
